Technical Development Specialist

ProFusion Industries, a highly regarded provider of transit step treads and transit flooring, custom specialty film products and protective linings is seeking a Technical Development Specialist at its ISO 9000 certified Marietta, Ohio manufacturing facility.  This position reports to the Technical Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the facility’s efforts for developing new products from concept to commercialization, utilizing stage gate methodology.
  • Work with Business Development and Sales/Marketing teams to understand customer requirements and key values to define new product opportunities, all the while incorporating ProFusion Industries’ technology to meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Collaborate with customers to define functional product performance requirements and translate them into product technical specifications.
  • Communicate strategy and results to the team.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Operations, and Quality departments to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing processes and assist in resolution of problems as required.
  • Value and exercise excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be a willing participant in other projects as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and/or Polymer Science preferred, with specialization in product and/or process development.
  • Plastic formulation experience preferred in PVC, TPO, TPU.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of extrusion and/or calendering processes.
  • Demonstrated skill in being detail-oriented, organizing work, setting priorities and working in a team environment.
  • Strong work and personal ethics.
  • Deal effectively with company personnel at all levels.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.

Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist

ProFusion Industries, a highly regarded provider of transit step treads and transit flooring, custom specialty film products and protective linings is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist at its ISO 9000 certified Marietta, Ohio manufacturing facility.  This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all aspects of the facility’s compliance with occupational and environmental laws and regulations.  This responsibility includes planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs to assure the highest possible degree of employee safety and regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee and review EHS programs and ensure that all federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are observed.
  • Identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly, and monthly audits.
  • Facilitate the incident investigation process and manage Worker’s Compensation cases.
  • Comply with all environmental and OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
  • Perform timely program audits for the various EHS programs that require periodic audits and reviews (HAZCOM, Lead Program, Asbestos O&M Plan, etc.).
  • Lead the Company/Union Safety Committee and Company/Union safety walks.
  • Conduct new hire safety orientations and provide monthly and annual safety training to all employees.
  • Manage hazardous waste, wastewater and universal waste management programs and revise these programs as needed.
  • Conduct daily, monthly and annual inspections and tests on equipment such as nuclear devices, ventilation hoods, fire systems, fall protection, AED, etc.
  • Collect timely samples for environmental testing.
  • Develop and maintain controls for identified hazards, evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system and recommend changes as needed.
  • Purchase environmental and safety supplies, products or training items as required.
  • Monitor, revise, and implement ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements.
  • Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a safety-related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ relevant EHS experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Certified safety professional (CSP) designation preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Worker’s Compensation case management and OSHA recordkeeping experience.
  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational and follow up skills.
  • Excellent people and process management skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in emergency situations.
  • Ability to enthusiastically deliver effectively training to all levels within the organization.
